Eight litres of meth oil, 2.28kg of meth crystals, chemicals, and other items worth about RM1mil were seized in the raid carried out simultaneously at three locations in Kedah, Penang and Selangor.
Ten cars, RM266,288 and other drug processing items. like burettes and weighing scales, were also seized.
The chemicals included toluene, methanol, ethanol, chloroform, tartaric acid, hydrochloric acid and also motor oil.
Federal Narcotics Crimes Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim said police raided a house at an orchard in Kampung Kemunting in Sungai Kob, Kulim, a house in Taman Tambun Permai in Simpang Ampat, Bukit Tambun, and a house in Klang at about 11am on Thursday.
"Police found the meth oil in the house in the orchard where we arrested five men, while the meth crystals were found in the house in Taman Tambun Permai where another man was nabbed."
The meth oil, after the cooking process is completed, can produce about 4kg of crystals.
"Both houses are believed to have been operating as the syndicate's labs. We later picked up another man, believed to be a member of the syndicate in Jelutong.
"The other nine suspects, including the two women, were arrested in the raid in Klang," he said at press conference at the state police contingent headquarters yesterday.
The suspects are aged between 23 and 60.
Comm Noor Rashid said it was the syndicate's modus operandi to divide the drug processing between several locations so as to evade police attention.
He also advised land and property owners to be more alert when renting out their properties.
